my property tax jumped from $2,000 in 2008 to $4500 in 2009!Could this be a mistake or is our dekalb county,Ga tax office on a rampage?
Any idea where to start?

I would start at your local county assessor's office. They can answer your questions and check into whether or not the increase was done in error.
