My husband did contract 1099 work last year and has not recieved the report we need to file out taxes this year from the contract company. We have contacted the contract numerous times asking for the report, but have gotten no response. How do we file four taxes without this information and can we report the company for non-compliance?

I've already tried...
We called in January asking for the 1099 tax info for last year's work. We called and left messages on February 1st and today , but have not recieved any response.

You did the right thing in following up with the contracted company. They hopefully will get the forms to you and IRS soon.

But don't worry - not receiving the 1099 is hardly the end of the world. You should already know how much revenue you earned in 2009 - the 1099 form is for informational purposes - the amount reported in the form must be reported in your taxes but the physical form doesn't need to be submitted to the IRS. If you have bank statement or payment statements that your husband received, you can tally up all the contract income you earned and report this in your tax return.

Remember if you don't receive a 1099 form, it does not mean you can forgo reporting the revenue on your tax return!! If you take this course of action, you run the risk of being audited and charged with tax evasion by the IRS.
