Isn't Schedule C for the self employed?? Also the per diem he receives is not included in his wages.
Then they are allowed so follow form 2106 and that will give you directions for claiming the deductions. IF they are temp jobs then he may want to use a
Sch. C form. Hope that helps if you need more information just ask.
They are temporary jobs and he goes to different towns. He is given a per diem does that change things?
If that is considered his tax home it is not allowed. By that I mean if he works in one town and lives in another you can't deduct that cost. If this is a temporary assignment or he travels to different towns then yes he can deduct it. If your not sure go to IRS web site and look at pub. 2106 and that will be your guide to what you are able to deduct.

If he is a temp does he contract out through an agency? Does he have a choice on what jobs he takes? What is his trade? Is he a member of a union?
I work, once in a while, in the movies as an extra or actor. I may go to different sets 3 to 4 times a week and am paid from each set. I am able to use a sch. C because even though they take taxes out at each job I still have the right to turn the job down or not. I am an independent contractor for each set that I work on. So there are reasons that you might be able to use a Sch. C that will give you more write off then not using one.
