Hello,
is it possible to claim my 88yr.old mother on my taxes. She had been living in an assisted living situation up until last week. She drew social security and then got my dad's part after he passed. She was receiving medicare & medicade.
Thank You.

I've already tried...
Just please help me out here, she is hospitalized and has a lot of health problems just happening, and I think the home where she was was ripping her off!!! honestly
I have taken a LOA from work to be with her,I dont have any money myself I only make 7.25 p.h. so it would be impossible to have to pay for such a simple question that may help us both.
Please help me here. Sincerly, XXXX

If you provided more than half of her support in 2009, then you can claim your mother as a qualifying relative. Nursing home expenses for medical reasons can be claimed as deductions for medical expenses.
