"Patrick J. Malloy III, bankruptcy trustee in U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Oklahoma, said Arrow Trucking's Chapter 7 bankruptcy filing last Friday is without precedent.
"We don't have a schedule of assets, a schedule of liabilities and a statement of financial affairs," he said. "Anyone who would be capable of providing that is not available. We're going to have to reconstruct everything. It could take weeks.""
I'd suggest contacting the bankruptcy trustee named here. From the sound of this article, I would not be optimistic of getting a quick result. But perhaps the W-2 process is simple enough that it can be resolved.

If your friend still has not received a W-2, I would suggest filing for a six-month extension to submit the return. An extension on filing is NOT an extension to pay, though, so any tax due would still need to be paid on April 15, or an installment plan would have to be set up.
If your friend has his last pay stub, he can get the withholding information from that. He would still need to indicate why he is not using information from a W-2, and he might need to get the Employer Identification Number.
