Can one claim head of household, if unmarried, father of child lives with you but has been unemployed all year so you are the main contributer? (also you are claiming child)

In order to file as head of household, the child has to be related to you by blood or marriage. If the child is not related to you, you can claim the child as a dependent, assuming the child meets all eligibilty tests, but it will not qualify you for head of household status. Also, you may be able to claim the father as your dependent if he made less than $3,650, you provided over half his support, and he lived with you all year.
